Wellington boots with black leggings is pretty cool outfit idea, but this is a casual combo that works for street walks. Let me tell you why.
I’m not surprised you’re looking for answers, it’s a question I’ve had asked of me plenty of times. The short answer is no, but there are caveats. There are multiple schools of thought on this one, and the best answer will depend on the specific situation.
In my opinion, the leggings that have been popular for the past two years have no place in warm weather, unless you are going to wear them under shorts (and not just any shorts, either, but good quality ones).
The black leggings are quite good for warm climate because they are not as thick and soft as the other ones. The material is thicker and more substantial, so it doesn’t cling to you like crazy and make you feel hotter. They also look better in warm weather – since they aren’t transparent anymore, but have some sort of sheen to them.
So, that’s why I’ve been wearing my black leggings with Wellington boots this year. They are the only way of wearing them in warmer months that I’ve found to be comfortable and easy. The material is thick enough to not look transparent and thin, so it doesn’t feel hot against the skin.
It’s a casual look that is not too dressy, so it’s perfect for the street walks and the more casual (not to mention comfortable) lifestyle we lead nowadays. But, there is something about it that just doesn’t look right. To me, it looks like you are playing dress up at your grandmother’s house or something – like you want to be older than you are.
I don’t know if it is the shoes or leggings, but to me they both seem a little too old fashioned for my taste. I like the look in general, but it’s not something I would want to wear.
I don’t know about you, but I have a really hard time wearing old fashioned looking combos. Not only because they make me feel old, but also because they usually don’t go with what I’m wearing in my personal style. It’s not that I can’t wear them at all, it’s just that I have a really hard time justifying it every time I do.
This is where it comes down to personal style. Some like casual, some like edgy and some like classic. There’s no right or wrong here, it’s just a matter of preference and what you feel comfortable in. If you feel comfortable wearing that look, then wear it by all means. But for me personally, I don’t feel comfortable wearing those leggings with Wellington boots – at least not in the warmer months of the year where comfort is key. This is just my opinion, no one else’s. I know it’s probably hard to believe me when I say it (since I seem to not be a judgmental person in general), but this is just my honest opinion.
It may also come down to the fact that I am not a fan of the traditional black pants and leggings that are so popular right now. They look dated and often remind me of the ugly and uncool ’90s fashion. However, if you think that this look is well suited for you, I won’t stop you from wearing it. Just make sure that you are comfortable and that everything else about your look fits in with your personal style.
